THE CITY OF FRANKFURT
Since the Middle Ages, the former free city of Frankfurt on the Main River, where Europe's trading routes crossed and the German emperors were crowned, has developed into one of the most important European financial and trading centres.
Today, 368 banks, including the European Central Bank and about 230 foreign banks, and the world's fourth largest stock exchange channel the flow of money here. Everyday life here is international and multilingual, given that almost every third person in Frankfurt holds a non-German passport! The Frankfurt Fair, the oldest in the world, is also a global actor: be it the Book Fair, Music Fair or Car Show, fairs attract almost 2.7 million visitors to Frankfurt in peak years. You will find the flair of a manageable mini-metropolis in the heart of Europe.
The Mercer survey ranked Frankfurt number 7 in their 2010 Quality of Living Ranking (category: cities worldwide)

The ISU program of study will be held in the lecture hall buildings of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University and the University of Applied Sciences of Frankfurt am Main. These are within easy reach with public transportation. Banks and university facilities such as libraries, computer rooms and the university cafeteria (Mensa) are only a few minutes away. Just as quickly you are in Frankfurt´s lively city centre with its boutiques, restaurants, pubs and cinemas.

The Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University was founded 1914. With its 37.000 students (4.100 of them from a foreign country ) and 550 professors, it is one of the biggest universities in Germany.

The University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt am Main was founded 1971 and is with 9.000 students (2.300 of them from a foreign country) and 650 professors a modern institution in the centre of Frankfurt.
