Greek Economists ask their government to sign an agreement

Thirteen Greek and Cypriot economists, among them Nobel Laureate Chris Pissarides and Michael Haliassos, Professor of Macroeconomics and Finance at Goethe University, published a declaration in which they ask the Greek government to sign an agreement with the other Eurozone countries. A default inside or outside the Eurozone will lead to catastrophic consequences for the people in Greece, they write:

“A last-minute agreement will be far from perfect and without the necessary structural reforms. However, it will be much better compared to the chaos of default and Drachma. The Greek government must sign this agreement now!”
