Michael Haliassos to consult ESMA Committee

Michael Haliassos, Professor of Macroeconomics and Finance at Goethe University, was appointed to the Consultative Working Group of the Investor Protection and Intermediaries Standing Committee (IPISC) of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) in Paris. The term will start in September 2015. The IPISC undertakes ESMA’s work on issues relating to the provision of investment services and activities by investment firms and credit institutions. Particular regard is made to investor protection, including the conduct of business rules, distribution of investment products, investment advice and suitability.

Michael Haliassos is Director of the Center for Financial Studies and Director of the CEPR Network on Household Finance. He received a B.A. from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in 1987. Before joining in Goethe University in 2004, he was a faculty member at the University of Maryland and the University of Cyprus.
