Political Economics 
Lectures held by Dr. Sigrid Röhrs
The course aims to further our understanding of the formation of policy and the role of different political institutions in shaping policy. In the first part of the course, we learn about the basic game-theoretic and politico-economic models to study collective choice and political institutions. We address, for example, the following questions: How are political decisions made? What are the sources of constraints and incentives for policymakers? How do political outcomes feedback on individual preferences? How are individual preferences aggregated? In the second part of the course, we will discuss papers about recent topical issues in political economy, f.e. about redistribution, pensions, government debt or austerity policies.
