Asia Forum 2023

Details: The two-day workshop “In Hallyu We Trust? Revisiting “Soft Power” in the New World Order of Cultural Production” will be taking place at the Normative Orders building on the 6^th and 7^th. Please find attached our program. We are excited to present an excellent lineup of speakers and are all looking forward to two days of discussions and talks surrounding different aspects of the concept of soft power. If you would like to attend, we ask you to please sign up with a quick email to Lisa Le Anh (leanh[at]tfm.uni-frankfurt[dot]de).
On July 6^th at 18.15, there will be our public evening keynote “Korean Film and Television – Competitiveness and Future Prospects” held by film producer Dong Yeon Won, who is going to talk about the success of the Korean film and broadcasting industry from an insider perspective. It will be held at the Renate von Metzler-Saal at the Goethe University Westend Campus, and there will be a small reception beforehand at 17.30. You can find more information about the event here.
Connected to the Asia Forum, there will be an artist’s lecture held by Hsu Che-Yu. Hsu Che-Yu and his collaborator Chen Wan-Yin are visiting Frankfurt to present their work at the Theater der Welt festival in July and will give insight into their artistic practice, specifically focusing on a 2022 VR work as well as the work Hsu will be presenting at the festival. The lecture will be happening on the 5th of July at 12 pm at SH 3.104 (Seminarhaus on Campus Westend).
