Looking Back at the 2025 TRR266 Forum!
At this year’s TRR266 Forum at LMU Munich, one of the central discussions focused on a pressing topic for both companies and regulators: How is the rollout of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) impacting ESG transparency in Europe and beyond?
During the panel discussion “ESRS Implementation in the EU: Early Insights”, we explored how the world’s most comprehensive mandatory ESG reporting framework is shaping corporate sustainability disclosures—especially in comparison to global peers.
We were delighted to welcome a distinguished panel:
- Prof. Dr. Thorsten Sellhorn (LMU Munich & TRR 266) – Moderator)
In conversation with: - Prof. Dr. Katharina Hombach (Goethe University Frankfurt & TRR 266)
- Georg Lanfermann (DRSC)
- Sven Gentner (European Commission)
- Alice Niklas (Chamber of Labour, Vienna)
The panel offered rich perspectives on early implementation challenges, regulatory dynamics, and the broader implications for sustainable corporate transparency.
We also appreciated the engaged discussion in our breakout session, led by Prof. Dr. Sara Bormann (Goethe University Frankfurt & TRR 266) “Pflichtübung oder strategisches Tool? Nachhaltigkeitsziele auf dem Prüfstand” (“Box-ticking exercise or strategic tool? Putting sustainability goals to the test”), where participants took a deep dive into practical reporting challenges under ESRS.
A warm thank-you to all participants and speakers for the insightful dialogue and shared expertise. We look forward to continuing the conversation—both in research and practice.
