Egbert Marasigan Amoncio studied BS Statistics at the University of the Philippines - Diliman. He holds a master's degree in Quantitative Economics from Goethe University in Frankfurt.

He completed his doctorate at Goethe University Frankfurt in July 2022.

Egbert is primarily working on innovation research where he applies Artificial Intelligence methods in optimizing innovation quality measures. Further, his research interests also include entrepreneurship in emerging economies where he investigates the impact of alleviating managerial and market integration constraints on microfirm’s performance.

The Paper “Obvious Patents are not Obvious: AI for Detecting Weak Patents” submitted by Egbert for the DRUID 2022 Conference (13.-15.06.2022, Copenhagen) was one of the three nominees for the DRUID 2022 Steven Klepper Award for Best Young Scholar Paper.
