About

Thanos Fragkandreas works at the University of Westminster. From 2019 to 2022, he worked as a lecturer for M.A. MEAS and research assistant at the Chair of Innovation and Entrepreneurship with focus on Japan/East Asia.

He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Business Studies (University of Huddersfield, UK), and Masters of Arts in Management (London Metropolitan University, UK), as well as a Research Masters (MRes) degree on Innovation Management and Technology Policy from Birkbeck, University of London (UK). Thanos obtained his PhD dgree in 2021 at the Department of Management, Birkbeck, University of London; where he has also taught courses on innovation management, strategic management, and research methods in management. His doctoral thesis focussed on innovation systems and inequality.

His research interests include innovation and inequality, innovation management, innovation paradoxes, ‘Kaizen’ (the Japanese management philosophy), and philosophy and methodology of the social sciences (especially critical realism and case study research). Thanos has so far published three papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He is also the author of a monograph on regional innovation performance in the European Union, as well as recipient of the NESTA award on innovation studies.
