"By convening a politically independent Future Council for the Economy, the Hessian state government is setting out to listen deeply into the economy. This is a quite remarkable and exemplary initiative. It comes at the right time in view of the major challenges," said Prof. Volker Wieland. "As co-chair, I am pleased to be able to carry ideas and proposals from business and science into politics, together with Dr. Wolff and the Council members. The goal of all of us is to contribute to the foundations for prosperity and a good future in Hesse," said Wieland at the first "Hessian Economic Summit.

"The following were identified as the main topics of the Hessian Future Council for the Economy: digitalization, decarbonization, the work of the future and the strategic positioning of Hesse as a business location at national and international level. The recommendations for action are fundamentally intended to be in the interests of Hessian companies, employees and Hesse as a business location, and are to be developed as consensually as possible.

Also appointed to the council were Dr. Christa Larsen, Director of the Institute for Economy, Labor and Culture, Goethe University Frankfurt, and Sebastian Schäfer, Managing Director of FinTech Community Frankfurt GmbH and lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business (Goethe University).
