Students can complete the Japanese courses and through that will acquire additional language competence skills.
The program consists of 3 courses. The Introduction course is aimed at beginners with no previous knowledge of Japanese. After completing the complete program, Level A1 in speaking Japanese should be reached.
This introductory course Japanese 1 is the first of the three courses in the program. It is a necessary prerequisite for the advanced course Japanese 2.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE No previous knowledge is required for this module.
COURSE CONTENT The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge in the following areas. Japanese conversation: the most important phrases used in everyday life as well as business life in Japan. Japanese script: the total 92 phonetic syllabaries of Hiragana and Katakana and a few Kanji as well as an introduction to the geography, history and institutions of Japan.
Presentation: one presentation (10 minutes) on any given topic of Japan's geography, culture and institutions.
The reading and writing aspects of the course are tested in a 90-minute written examination during the last week of the semester. A graded certificate is awarded to those who pass the exam.
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 20.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of the content of the Japanese 1 (WJP1) module is an essential requirement to take this course. There is the possibility to enter the program with some current knowledge of Japanese.
COURSE CONTENT The aim of this course is to consolidate what was learned in the WJP1 course. This course continues with the textbook "Marugoto: Japanese language and culture". In the semester, all Hiragana and Katakana will be studied, as well as some Kanji. Students should be able to hold a simple conversation in Japanese by the end of the semester. Topics related to the Japanese language will be studied in more depth. In addition, a 2-day workshop on intercultural communication in a business context is planned and active participation in discussions and submission of worksheets is required.

This advanced course has the target level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of the content of the Japanese 1 and 2 (WJP1 and 2) module is an essential requirement to take this course. There is the possibility to enter the program with some current knowledge of Japanese.
COURSE CONTENT The aim of this course is to deepen the knowledge of WJP 1 and 2.You will continue working with the textbook "Marugoto: Japanese language and culture" from lesson 10 onwards. By the end of the semester, students will be able to read and write all Hiragana and Katakana and read some Kanji. Students will be able to have simple conversations in Japanese by the end of the course. We will also use additional material so that you can have deeper conversations that can be immediately used in Japan. We will also read short Japanese stories. Through the course you will also learn about topics related to everyday life in Japan.
Reading comprehension and writing skills will be tested in the form of a 90-minute written exam and oral exam during the last week of lectures. A graded certificate is awarded to those who pass the exam.
