Spanish

These courses are designed to provide students with communicative and intercultural skills. Students will have an opportunity to brush up and perfect their existing knowledge of Spanish as well as to develop their knowledge of specialised vocabulary. They will also gain an insight into general aspects of the Spanish and Latin American economies. 

We offer two levels:

 

This Introduction course has the target level A2.2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE Completion of level A1 (CEFR) or 40-60 points in the placement test.

PLACEMENT TEST We recommend that you take the placement test before enrolling to ensure that you are placed in the right course. Here is the Placement test for Spanish.

COURSE CONTENT The aim of this course is to consolidate the Spanish language and to acquire the appropriate basic technical vocabulary for this level. This course focuses on the fundamental concepts of the business, economic and financial world.  Students will be given an opportunity to practice the four language skills (listening, speaking, writing and reading). Grammar exercises will also help to enhance the linguistic and conceptual understanding of current topics and lay the foundation for discussions and written exercises on various economic subjects. The reading and writing aspects of the course are tested in a 90-minute written examination during the last week of the semester. A graded certificate is awarded to those who pass the exam.

The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 20.

COURSE MATERIAL All the students in the Economics language programme will receive the course material with specially designed exercises and a variety of selected economic texts.
