Master's Course


The Master's Course in English for Economists is exclusively reserved for Master students matriculated in a German-language Master's study course in our faculty and is offered every semester. The following Master students are eligible to take this course:

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Master in Economics Informatics
  • Master in Vocational Education

Only in summer semester 2020: an official document proving language abilities (C1 Certificate, Cambridge certificate (C1) or TOEFL test of a minimum of 100) will be required.


This Master’s course corresponds to level C1.2. according to the Common European Reference Framework on Languages (CEFR).


Due to the decision made on the coronavirus by the cabinet of the Hessen State Government, the Foreign Languages for Economists Department has decided to cancel the qualifying test for the 2020 summer semester.

Lessons will commence from 20 April onwards.

You will be required to present an official document proving your language abilities (C1 Certificate, Cambridge certificate (C1) or TOEFL test of a minimum of 100) when registering.

Students will not be able to register without one of the above certificates.



Participants will have ample opportunity to take an active role through working in pairs, small groups and in the form of plenary discussions. A greater understanding of grammar will be achieved by monitoring and discussing oral and written exercises.

Oral and written examinations (90 minutes) both take place at the end of the lecture time, i.e. on 02.07.2020 the oral examination, and on 09.07.2020 the written examination. These dates are final. There are no second or repeat examination dates.
All participants are required to write a home assignment of 1,000 words and must hand it in by 25.06.2020 in class.

CREDIT POINTS All successful participants will receive 6 credit points for completing the Master's Course: English for Economists.

For successfully completing the course an internal language competence C1.2 certificate will be issued. This will contain all points gained in each examination achievement including the final grade. It can be collected from SSIX Info Center.
