Profil

The Center for Business Ethics (CBE) is a teaching and research facility that is dedicated to questions in economic and business ethics from the perspective of social science. Ethics and economics are two sides of the same coin. While ethics asks questions about what should be or rather, which normative ideas could be intersubjective capable of consensus, economics aims for a effective and efficient implementation of those requirements.

The CBE believes that an adequate approach to business ethics is characterized on the one hand by theoretical stringency and on the other hand by empirically informed, i.e. in particular behavioural analyses. On this basis, we seek to develop and implement concepts, methods and solutions alike.

The aim of the CBE is to demonstrate and promote the possibilities of ethical business in research and teaching as well as through civil society engagement. Special attention is paid to the interdisciplinary research of ethical problems and the transfer of possible solutions with systematic consideration of individual, corporate and regulatory ethics.

In doing so, we maintain close ties with the Cluster of Excellence Normative Orders, the "Frankfurter Labor für experimentelle Wirtschaftsordnung" (Frankfurt Labaratory for Experimental Economic Research) and other organisations committed to similar and complementary goals. The CBE cooperates with the university-based initiative 180 Degrees Consulting and supports the alumni organisation fwwg
