Learning German

Even if you intend to follow an English language program at the Faculty, we would like to encourage you to learn German. It will certainly help you to discover the country and to make contact with its inhabitants more intensively.

Many private and public institutes and schools offer German courses in Germany and you can obtain a good overview with a lot of useful information about language learning from the internet pages of the DAAD. They also provide tests to help you to assess your language skills.

There are plenty of language schools and 'language cafés' in Frankfurt. Also, the Goethe-Institut offers language courses for German.

Exchange students can profit from opportunities to learn German at Goethe University. A pre-sessional one-month language and orientation course (DIA) takes place every year in March and September before the lecture period begins. Further information is provided by the general Global Office.

In addition, there are several German language courses organized and offered by the University's Centre of International Studies, addressing students with different levels of knowledge.
