Professor Klump is the Chair of Economic Development and Integration at the Goethe University Frankfurt. He is also the co-director of the interdisciplinary Wilhelm Merton Centre of European Integration and International Economics at the Goethe University. As co-director, he supervises the Raymond Barre Visiting Professorship, which was established in December 2005, thanks to a grant by Sanofi Aventis. The first invited guest professor was Patrick Messerland, professor of global economics at the Paris Institut d`Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po), who has held the position since May 2006. Other invited guests have been Etienne Wasmer (Sciences Po, Paris), Oliver de La Grandville (Geneva), Bruno Biais (Toulouse) and Roland Bénabou (Princeton).

Professor Klump represents Goethe University at the Franco-German University. He additionally serves as the scientific organizer of Hessen International Summer University (ISU) in Frankfurt, and operates the bi-national seminar series "European Studies".

Furthermore Professor Klump is member and Principal Investigator of the Cluster of Excellence "The Formation of Normativ Orders"
