General Information

Uni-assist

All applications for a master’s degree at the Faculty of Economics and Business are to be made via www.uni-assist.de/en. For applicants with a bachelor's degree from a German institution an online application is sufficient. International applicants additionally need to send their application documents as certified hard copies to uni-assist in Berlin before the application deadline after completing the online application.

Formal criteria of admission

Applicants who have not received their diploma until the end of the application deadline need to hand in a transcript of records or a preliminary mark sheet which states the courses taken so far along with the credit and the marks earned. In this case at least 80% of the undergraduate program need to be completed. This criterion cannot be waived. The admission is based on these preliminary documents.

In case of admission, the final undergraduate diploma needs to be handed in until the end of the first master's semester.

APS

Applicants with a bachelor's degree from PR China, Vietnam or India need to provide an APS certificate additionally to the required documents.

Master programs

Necessary requirements

Applicants are required to have completed an undergraduate degree with at least 90 ECTS credits in Business Administration / Economics / Management, which is roughly half the workload of a three years undergraduate program. Modules of quantitative Methods are included in this calculation.

International applicants need to supply proof of their German knowledge through the DSH-2-exam or an equivalent certificate. For more information, see:

Further, applicants need to provide proof of their proficiency in English at the CEFR level B2.

All applications that do not fulfill these requirements will be rejected.

Criteria of admission

All applications, that were handed in correctly, are ranked on a scale between 1 and 10 according to the following criteria:

  • Average Bachelor's grade (final or preliminary): 51 %
  • ECTS / credits in quantitative methods modules: 39 %
  • Average grade of the quantitative methods modules: 10 %

The available positions in the master program will be assigned according to the ranking. The annual admission score represents the application with the lowest score that still gained admission.

Necessary requirements

  • GMAT / GRE test (verbal section): 3 %
  • GMAT / GRE test (quantitative section): 3 %
  • International experience: 4 %

GMAT/GRE and international experience are not obligatory. If no test i shanded in or if applicants do not have international experience these portions of the score will be calculated with 0 points. Applications will be accepted, though and applicants regularly are able to gain admission without these criteria.

Necessary requirements

Applicants are required to have a bachelor's / master's degree in economics or business in order to apply. An undergraduate or graduate specialization in economics or business is preferred, but candidates with strong analytical skills from related fields will also be considered. 

Further, applicants need to provide TOEFL (at least 100 points) or IELTS (band score at least 7.0). This criterion can be waived only if the applicant has been graduated from an institution in a majority English speaking country according to the UK Visas and Immigration department:

Applicants need to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the area of Economics, Finance, or in some related field. 

Additionally, applicants need to provide a valid GMAT or GRE with at least 50% in the quantitative section.

Further, applicants need to provide TOEFL (at least 100 points) or IELTS (band score at least 7.0). This criterion can be waived only if the applicant has studied at an institution in a majority English speaking country according to the UK Visas and Immigration department:

The master program in Business and Economic Education requires a bachelor in this field or a bachelor in economics / business administration. In case of the latter, applicants have to provide 60 ECTS in education after gaining admission.

Additionally, all applicants have to hand in an exposé of studies which provides information regarding the motivation as well as the aspired career path of the applicant.

Criteria of admission

All applications, that were handed in correctly, are ranked on a scale between 1 and 5 according to the following selection criteria:

  • Final / preliminary bachelor-grade: 60 %
  • Exposé of studies: 40 %

The available positions in the master program will be assigned according to the ranking. The annual admission score represents the application with the lowest score that gained admission.

Application period
