Typically, the registration phase commences three weeks prior to the initiation of lectures and concludes subsequent to the first week of said lectures. The enrolment process for the "Courses for all students" traditionally begins a few days in advance of the "Credit-point courses".

Wintersemester 2026:

Courses for all students: 24.09.2026 (9 a.m.) to 16.10.2026 (5 p.m.)

Credit-point courses, Master's Course: tba

All business language courses start on the 12th October 2026, unless otherwise stated in the QIS/LSF.

The Business languages courses are designed in the first instance for students of the Faculty of Economics. However, students belonging to other faculties may also enrol for the “Courses for all students“.

• Courses for all students: in the same language, no. You are allowed to register for two or three courses of different languages.
• Credit-point courses: You are allowed to register for 2 credit-points courses in English so as for one credit-point course in French and/or Spanish.

Yes, it doesn't matter whether you have B2.1 or B2.2 - the decisive factor is that level B2 is achieved overall.

Our language certificates are in principle valid indefinitely. This means that they have no expiry date and remain legally valid.
Please note, however, that in practice many institutions or universities often require a certificate that is no more than two years old. This is to ensure that the language skills demonstrated are still up to date.

All questions should be sent via e-mail wis@wiwi.uni-frankfurt.de. All questions appertaining to the department languages for economists will be answered in this form. We would kindly request that you use this contact address and not contact our instructors directly. Questions that can only be answered by an instructor will be forwarded to them.

You must log on with your HRZ-Account and then register before you can start the test.

No, the placement test for the "Courses for all students" is not compulsory and does not lead to automatic enrolment in the respective course. This test only serves to assess your language level. However, we strongly recommend that you adhere to the corresponding result when registering for the course.

Please do not forget to write the invoice number on your bank remittance so that our booking and payment system can easily recognise your payment. The invoice number can be found in your confirmation e-mail.

Your grades will be on your certificate, which will be emailed to you approximately 6 weeks after the course ends.

Online French Qualifying Test on 28 September 2026 from 12 noon to 2 pm
Online Spanish Qualifying Test on 28 September 2026 from 3 pm to 5 pm

The Qualifying Test is only available during the specified time slots. There is no alternative date.
You must register using your student number in order to access the test.

You can upload your existing language certificate here:

You can only upload your existing language certificate within the specified time slots. Language certificates submitted outside this platform, including by email, will not be accepted.

You must register using your student number in order to upload your language certificate.

The Qualifying Test for the respective compulsory elective modules (English, French, Spanish) is a test taken online via the L-Plus platform. It consists of multiple-choice questions.

The qualifying test for compulsory elective modules is mandatory for all students who have not yet successfully completed a compulsory elective module in the relevant language.

Otherwise, mandatory participation can only be waived by providing one of the following language certificates:

English:

• Cambridge English C1 certificate
• TOEFL score of at least 100
• IELTS score of 7.5 or above
• C1 language certificate from completion of a Bachelor Credit-Point Course in English for Economists in previous semesters.

French:

• Baccalauréat, Abibac
• DALF / DELF C1
• C1 language certificate obtained upon completion of a Bachelor Credit-Point Course in French for Economists in previous semesters.

Spanish:

• C1 language certificate obtained upon completion of a Bachelor Credit-Point Course in Spanish for Economists in previous semesters.

Existing certificates can only be downloaded from the L-Plus platform during the online qualifying test.

You can check your grades password protected in QIS. Every certificate will be emailed to you approximately 6 weeks after the course ends.
